How to reach Amsterdam
Amsterdam can be reached easily by air, land or even sea.Cheap flights from within Europe and direct flights from outside Europe are readily available, serving Amsterdam airport Schiphol - located just a few kilometers from the city center.
Arriving by plane (Schiphol International Airport)
A Direct Rail Link connects Schiphol International Airport to Amsterdam central station and is the fastest and most convenient way to get to the city center. Trains run every 10 minutes (airport train schedule) from platforms 1 and 2 in the main arrival plaza.
Airport Shuttles run by Connexxion depart every 10 minutes with service to more than 100 hotels throughout the city. Tickets can be purchased inside the main arrival plaza. Guests of major hotels should first check the shuttle area to see if their hotel provides a complimentary service. The tickets be purchased at the Amsterdam Shuttle Desk in Arrivals 4 and at the bus stop A7.
Train Travel to Amsterdam
is a popular option within Europe with Inter City connections to and from Brussels, London, Paris, Hamburg and Berlin (each 6 hours) as well as Belgium and Frankfurt (3 hours). All other destinations in Holland are located no more than 2.5 hours from Amsterdam by rail. Rail passes and other discounts are widely available and reservations are highly recommended.
International Buses
arrive and depart at Amstel Station approximately 10km south of the city. A metro line from Amstel station conveniently connects visitors with the city center. Eurolines (www.eurolines.com) is Europe’s largest and most extensive coach service with competitive fares and routes to and from every city on the continent.
Arriving by Car
is fairly straightforward, however driving and parking in the city are not. The A10 Ring (Ringweg) encircles the city and receives all major freeways. Parking
You can park your car safely in car park Europarking, Marnixstraat 250 (a 5 minutes walk from Felix Meritis).
